Mary Jane Lamond:

Mary Jane is a singer from Cape Breton Island, Canada, one of the few places where the language is still spoken and the gaelic song tradition has lived on. Bho Tír nan craobh is my personal favourite of her 2 albums, it features a great selection of Cape Breton songs, including some lovely waulking songs.

A singer from Barra in the Outer Hebrides. She presents most of her songs in a simple traditional style, with no or little accompaniment. She has a beautiful rich voice and her albums feature a great variety of songs including a whole CD with songs of Máiri Mhór, the great poetess of the Isle of Skye.
